plan

The plan is that there is no plan. Well not exactly. We have finally stepped aboard Shiloh, after years of anticipation and a lot of work and planning.

But the plans were mostly about how to get here – they were the plans about the kids’ education, and finances, and logistics and exiting from work.

Now that we’re here, the first thing we do is sigh with relief and then begin to plan our journey slowly and with as little pressure as possible in terms of dates and destinations.

The general idea is to savour the fact that we managed to find a way to get to a boat, leave the stresses of 9-to-5 work behind, and look to the world as a huge mass of discoveries to make and adventures to be had.

We hope to tour the Caribbean aboard Shiloh for the next 3 years loosely – staying longer in the places we love, and making shorter stops elsewhere. We hope to discover every remote beach and bay and to make some wonderful friends along the way. That part has already begun!

Next, we will pass through the Panama canal and sail through the Polynesian islands and onto New Zealand and Australia for about two years.

We are a bit stumped currently, as to what follows. We’d both love to see the Mediterranean by boat, but the journey from Aus to the Med can be treacherous and riddled with pirates or rough weather, whichever way you choose to travel.

So the plan is to wait and see, to learn from others and from our own experiences.

To let the weather and life and the tides lead us. The plan is to live life to the fullest, wherever that may be at any given moment in time.
